Calling-all-Happy-Taxpayers-Blog

In 2017, the U.S. government hauled in $3.32 trillion dollars in income taxes. Those kind of numbers can make your head swim. Even more astounding, however, is this little data nugget: only 51 percent of Americans say that the amount of federal income tax they paid in 2017 was too high. Obviously, they didn’t survey me.

With nearly half the U.S. taxpayers all too happy to hand over their hard earned money to the federal government, it’s only fitting to post this friendly PSMailers reminder checklist on how to gear up for the new tax season:

 Are you ready to meet the looming W2 tax forms mailing deadline?

 Is the PSMailers machine tuned up?

 Are you stocked up on the right forms?

 Do you have the right fold design(s)?

 Have you conducted a test run before running an entire batch?

If you can’t answer “yes” to all of the above questions, we’ve got your back. Our top-notch Customer Service and Tech Team is available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST to answer all of your questions and help you resolve any issues you might be experiencing. Our team of experts know PSMailers systems inside and out, and can have you up and running in no time.

In addition to our Customer Service support, you can find all kinds of great info on PSMailers equipment and other products by calling our toll-free number: 800.464.5030 or click here

Free and easy…which is more than you can say about the ever-changing tax code.

An Overdue Lesson in the Value of Self-Mailers

W-PSMBlog9.18

One warm, sunny day this summer (okay, who am I kidding? …it was miserably hot and sweaty), my mind and body lay adrift on a raft in the pool; my nearly finished overdue library book resting on a towel on a lounge chair near the edge of the pool. With the sudden gust of a summer breeze, this blissful tranquility was interrupted by a gentle kersplash. There, floating blissfully itself in the shallow end of the pool was my paperback novel, sent airborne by my windswept towel, drinking up enough chlorinated water to fill an inflatable baby pool. I dog-paddled from the deep end to its heroic rescue. But the damage was done.

As it turns out, formerly wet books – even those thoroughly dried with a hair dryer – are frowned upon when returned at the library. If only I had heeded that overdue notice I received just a few days prior. Instead of a 50-cent fine, I paid $27.99 for my overdue sins.

In a water-soaked way, my personal folly draws attention to the value of self-sealed reminders, notices and other business communication like those produced by PSMailers systems. Printing, folding, sealing and addressing communication all in one system is a true time and money saver for public institutions, schools, and businesses that operate on limited resources.

PSMailers systems are available in a wide range of sizes and capacities to fit the volume needs of any size operation. From overdue notices, grade reports and other confidential information to marketing promotions, PSMailers can handle anything that needs to be printed and mailed efficiently.

So, my friends, I implore you to learn from my mistakes. Always renew your library books on time… always keep them as far away from water as possible…and always remember the productivity, flexibility and efficiency of PSMailers!

Swimmingly yours,

PSMailers Guy

Feeling The Heat!

Feeling the heat? PSMailers to the rescue!

This summer has already been a scorcher for much of the country, with heat spells in the 90s-plus F°¬ blistering communities from the east coast to the southwest. How hot was it today? It was so hot that you could almost hear the king of late night comedy, Johnny Carson, riff on the heat.

During these hot, steamy days of summer, who needs to sweat the time-consuming, labor intensive task of folding and sealing documents with outdated equipment? Help businesses keep their cool with PSMailers Pressure Seal Systems that save time, labor and money on the entire pressure seal mailing process:

• PSMailers keeps it “chill” with a line of compact, Small Volume folder/sealers designed for businesses that need 1,800-3,000 sheets/hour capacity.

• Busy offices can find much relief with PSMailers Medium Volume systems equipped to handle a demanding load without demanding too much of an organization’s budget or space.

• When the work really heats up, PSMailers Large Volume and Specialty models make light work of heavy loads.

This is also the perfect opportunity to remind PSMailers customers to store PSMailers documents in a temperature-controlled environment to ensure they are always in perfect condition for printing, folding, sealing.

So before you start seeing chickens lay hard boiled eggs this summer, help turn sweat into “Sweet!!” with PSMailers to the rescue.

See you at the pool! Last one in is a rotten (hard-boiled) egg!

Know your fold!

W-Art-of-origamiBLOG

The art of origami and its possibilities with PSMailers

If you ever made a paper airplane, newspaper hat, or “cootie catcher” as a child, you can thank the ingenuity of ancient Japanese monks. The art of origami, or paper folding, started not as child’s play but as part of religious and ceremonial traditions carried out by monks in Japan in the sixth century. Modern paper folding has taken on new shapes over the years, evolving into simple child’s play, advanced mathematical theory, remarkable works of art, and even simple functional forms (literally) – such as PSMailers documents.

While not as artistic or elaborate as today’s origami works, PSMailers documents come in a wide range of fold styles that enhance and simplify important communications. Knowing your folds and how they can be used will unfold endless possibilities to print, seal, and mail projects. Take a look at PSMailers for a wide range of documents from payroll to marketing plus these six fold options…

Is your self-mailer system an Apolo Ohno... or Eddie the Eagle?

Posted by PSMailers Guy on Tue, Feb 20, 2018 @ 13:02 PM

Psmailers-Blog-2018.png

The Winter Olympic games are a true inspiration to aspiring young athletes, sports fans, and couch potatoes alike (I should know). Watching the amazing feats of strength, speed and agility performed on ice and snow by such U.S. Olympic greats as Apolo Ohno, Shaun White, Picabo Street, Dorothy Hamill, Eric Heiden, to name a few, has been one of my favorite past-times every four years. I liken their impressive athleticism to a few other top performers near and dear to me – PSMailers.

Take for instance the PSM1800. This compact but mighty machine could be considered the Apolo Ohno of PSMailers. Ohno earned a remarkable eight Olympic medals as a short track speed skater; the PSM1800 boasts a processing capacity of 1,800 documents per hour, and a monthly duty cycle of 10,000. This makes PSM1800 a top performer for smaller offices processing as few as 6,500 documents per year, with a payback that makes it well worth the investment.

The tricked out PSM3000 is the Shaun White of the lineup. White, a now three-time Olympic gold medal snowboarder, holds the record for the highest score in the men's halfpipe at the Winter Olympics; while the PSM3000 integrated folder/sealer delivers a processing throughput of 3,000 documents per hour and duty cycle of 25,000 per month. Gold-worthy document processing for smaller organizations that require streamlined Olympic performance from a desktop solution.

If you have a need for speed, the mighty PSM10K is the Picabo Street of self-sealing systems. Alpine skier Street won the super giant slalom (“super G”) speed skiing event at the 1998 Winter Olympics. The high-volume PSM10K with 36” conveyor outpaces other systems handing up to 10,000 documents per hour, with a 200,000 monthly duty cycle.

So before the 2018 Winter Olympics torch flame goes out, take a second look at your current pressure sealer machines. Can they compete? If yours are more of “Eddie the Eagle” than Eric Heiden, look to psmailers.com for a winning lineup.

Competitively yours,

PSMailers Guy

How Self-Sealed Documents Can Keep Kids Honest (Honestly!)

Posted by PSMailers Guy on Tue, Oct 17, 2017 @ 10:10 AM

W-Sept-Blog-PSM.png

Confession time.  As a young lad in high school, I was admittedly not a model student. There were too many other distractions to occupy my mind and my time. That caught up with me, of course, so when mid-term grades came out one year, I had to actually use my brain and think, fast.  While not studious, I was no dummy and intercepted the grade report in our mailbox before dear mom and dad came home. Carefully opening the envelope so that it could be resealed, I ever so skillfully changed a well-deserved “D” to a miraculous “B.”

Did I get away with it?  Unbelievably, I did. Looking back, it’s not the proudest moment of my youth. The real lesson to be learned here is the value of self-sealed documents, like those produced by PSMailers, that preserve and protect critical, often confidential, information from educational institutions.

Printing, folding, sealing and addressing communication all in one system is a real time and money saver for schools that operate on such limited resources today.  PSMailers self-sealed documents keep the line of communication with parents and families direct and free from any youthful indiscretions.

Because PSMailer systems are available in a wide range of sizes and capacities, they can fit the volume needs of school sites and districts of any size. They can be used to send grade reports, athletic department information, fundraising announcements, payroll… anything that needs to be printed and mailed efficiently.

My confession today serves not only to clear my conscience, but also as a public service announcement to parents everywhere: if your child eagerly offers to get the mail for you every day around report card time, the jig is up!

Remorsefully yours,

PSMailers Guy

P.S. Mom and Dad, if you’re reading this…please forgive me! I promise never to do it again.

Turn your Direct Mail Marketing into Christmas in July

Posted by PSMailers Guy on Wed, Jul 12, 2017 @ 14:07 PM

W-XMASINJULY-Blog.png

Every few years our extended family gathers in a sunny coastal vacation destination to soak up the sun, fun, food and plenty of humidity. A favorite activity during these reunion weeks is a “Christmas in July” gift exchange. Everyone anonymously wraps a new or used item (from the local thrift stores) valued around $10, then each family member takes a turn picking a gift or stealing one that has already been opened. Some gifts are very useful, others clever, and some devilishly funny like this year’s authentic mink stole – four legs, beady eyes and all. While we may never know the original value (or age) of this silky stuffed creature, the recipient’s reaction upon opening the gift was absolutely priceless.

Which brings me to my point (thank you for patiently waiting) about the value of direct mail marketing. Much like opening Christmas gifts in the middle of the summer, direct mail promotions are very highly received, even in this overwhelmingly digital age. These statistics from a report by smallbusinesstrends.com affirm this:

  • The greatest number, 54 percent, of consumers surveyed said they want to receive mail from brands they’re interested in.
  • 56 percent of customers find print marketing to be the most trustworthy type of marketing.
  • 70 percent of Americans say mail is more personal than the internet.
  • 62 percent of consumers who responded to direct mail in the past three months made a purchase.
  • 56 percent of consumers who responded to direct mail went online or visited the physical store.
  • 80-90 percent of direct mail gets opened, while only 20-30 percent of email gets opened on a good day.
  • 70 percent of consumers preferred traditional mail for receiving unsolicited offers from companies.
  • U.S. advertisers spend $167 per person on direct mail to earn $2,095 worth of goods sold; a 1,300 percent return.

One of the most efficient and cost-effective ways to create valuable Christmas in July experiences year-round is PSMailers self-seal systems. With a wide variety of self-seal document styles and fold patterns available, PSMailers documents easily bring marketing messages directly to consumers – from time-sensitive promotions and new product introductions to special announcements or other targeted marketing messages, in small, medium or high-volume quantities.

So for businesses that want an 80-90 percent direct mail open rate (that doesn’t include a stuffed minx upon opening), PSMailers are the gift that keeps on giving, check it out: http://www.psmailers.com/documents/focus-on

Merry Christmas in July from yours truly,

Take your payroll out of the time capsule

Posted by PSMailers Guy on Tue, May 2, 2017 @ 15:05 PM

BlogTime-capsule.png

As I was spring cleaning (aka finally taking down the outdoor Christmas lights), I ventured into the attic for the kind of hard core purging I have been avoiding for most of my adult life. I spent a few hours going through dusty, musty boxes, basking in the nostalgia of my beloved 8-track tape collection, cringe-worthy high school yearbooks, and my glorious beer can collection. Rummaging through a large box filled with “why was I keeping this??” keepsakes, I came upon pay stubs from my first job at a fast food chain which shall remain nameless. Clearing the cobwebs of my memory (and the pesky ones dangling over my head), I thought about how far we have come. My meager $3.15 hourly pay is laughable today. And just look at the pay stub. Yellowed, hand typed, carbon-copied.

It’s a far cry from the high-quality, automated self-seal documents PSMailers users have come to rely on today for security and efficiency in their payroll processing. Leaving nostalgia in the dust, PSMailers payroll documents are must-have modern tools available in six fold styles  http://www.psmailers.com/documents/styles (C fold, Z fold, V fold, EZ fold, EC fold, ZX fold) in Stock, Standard or Standard Plus, which offers a choice of 20 ink colors.

Security is a top priority in payroll, and PSMailers include many built-in security features like chemical protection paper, fluorescent fibers, microprint, void pantograph to name just a few. http://www.psmailers.com/documents/imprint-options

My attic adventures taught me an important lesson that day. It’s fun to dig into the time capsule, but the future will always be better and brighter (and there will never be another mullet or Neil Diamond 8-track tape in your future ever again.) You can take that to the bank (along with your PSMailers payroll documents).

~PSMailers Guy

P.S. If anyone out there is in the market for an incredibly amazing beer can collection, message me. Mrs. PSMailers Guy would be eternally grateful.

To bot or not to bot? Trends in Customer Service

Posted by PSMailers Guy on Wed, Mar 1, 2017 @ 15:03 PM

W-TOBOTORNOTR.png

When unlikely film stars R2D2 and C3PO hit the big screen in 1977, they not only laid the groundwork for sci-fi fan geekdom the likes of which the world hadn’t seen since The Beatles played Shea Stadium – but these futuristic Tin Men also introduced modern society to the concept of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Machines processing and providing information much like humans, only faster, smarter and, dare we say, with more personality and humor. Great technological and computing advancements have been made since we discovered AI in a galaxy far, far away; and these two steampunk prototypes have been replaced by female voice-enabled interfaces such as Siri and Alexa, now ever-present in smart phones and homes around the world.

As AI becomes integrated into nearly every facet of personal and business realms, Customer Service is no exception. AI can, and will in some businesses, eventually replace human CSRs. But for now, AI serves as an IA (Intelligent Assistant) to CSRs, helping to enhance the personal customer service experience.

Which brings us to PSMailers Customer Service. (“Finally, PSMailers Guy!” you must be thinking.) In keeping with the acronym theme of this blog, I would characterize our Customer Support representatives as PSMIA (PSMailers Intelligence Assistants). Highly trained experts on the entire PSMailers line, functions and features (and not one bit – or bot – artificial, I might add). When you call the dedicated toll-free line (800-464-5030), Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm EST, you will reach a living, breathing PSMailers customer service representative ready and able to provide personal assistance with installation, troubleshooting, and product information, and more.

So whenever you feel the dark side of AI upon you, simply remember these (paraphrased) words of the wise and wonderful Yoda, “May the force of the PSMI be with you.”

The season for "boos!" and W-2s

Posted by PSMailers Guy on Wed, Oct 26, 2016 @ 15:10 PM

Boos!W2s2016.png

I have been told I have a face for blogging. But there are far more frightening things you could encounter in your lifetime. For example, I am reminded of something a wise person once said: “The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help.”  But fear not, PSMailers Blog Guy fans (no applause, please) – I am most decidedly NOT from the government, but I AM here to help.

Since we’re on the subject of the government, I am compelled to share my knowledge and wisdom about a timely topic: the all-important W-2 tax form used by taxpayers to file federal and state tax returns each year.  According to turbotax.intuit.com, the IRS requires employers to report wage and salary information for employees on Form W-2.This form also reports the amount of federal, state and other taxes withheld from an employee’s paycheck. The IRS requires employers to send employees a W-2 no later than January 31 following the close of the tax year, which is usually December 31.

Although we’ve just entered the hallowed season, that deadline is eerily close. Regardless of the PSM model you operate, the number of forms you process, or the folding style you choose, PSMailers make a necessary job essentially easier. Printed, folded, sealed and mailed to employees in no time. Contact your sales rep at 800.464.5030 or http://www.psmailers.com/contact-us/sales-form/ to find the right machine to match your form and your needs.

A few things to remember as you prepare for the season, first understand your fold. Selecting a style and ordering early will ensure plenty of time to get set up right http://www.psmailers.com/documents/styles/ Next match the fold to the machine, all models are designed to run various standard fold forms although some folds may not be compatible with the PSM1800 or 6500. Last but not least is to test run. You never know if you might need to make adjustments.

That, my friends, leaves you nothing to fear but a band of sugar-crazed trick-or-treaters at your front door after you just handed out the last candy bar. (And if you see someone in a PSMailers Guy mask, run…it’s NOT me.)
