What if all of the data in an area I moved does not move?
When setting up a template it is recommended to print a check with the maximum amount of data. When moving data the template only sees the actual data that was printed. Example: If you have stub information consisting of three lines of data and the three lines are Made into a group and moved, then you print a check with four lines of stub information (the fourth line of information being outside of the group) the fourth line of data will not move, it was not set to move in the template.
If I right-click on a data group and the drop down menu does not appear, what do I do?
You must right click on the data itself. After selecting data for a group, copy, or single piece of data it will turn red. To activate the dropdown menu for options right click on the actual red data to activate the dropdown menu for options.
What if I don’t like the changes I just made?
To reverse changes made to a template, select the data that was changed and right-click on the read data to activate the dropdown menu. Selecting Clear Field will return the data to its original position. To completely start over, just click on the Apply Template button on the tool bar. This will put all the data back in its original position.
How do I know if the data changes I make will fit on the paper correctly?
On the Tool Bar there is a Form Overlay field that you can select the overlay you are matching with your data. Select the correct overlay and it will appear in the Format Driver Editor screen.
What if I want to edit the template but I don’t want to print another document?
Right Click on the Format Companion that runs in the system tray and select Launch Editor or go to Start, Programs, Format Driver, Format Driver Editor to launch the editor. Once the Format Driver Editor is open click on open and select the template to open.
When I go into the Format Driver Editor to modify a template and select the form overlay, it doesn’t appear. What am I doing wrong?
You probably do not have the correct path to the Filesystem file that has the overlay graphics. Click on Options on the tool bar and click on Preferences. At the bottom of the screen is the Filesystem location. By default it is drive:\Program Files\Format driver\Format driver\Templates. Change this to the correct path.
What if I print and the job goes to the wrong printer?
Make sure that the Format Driver and the actual printer driver are both set to print to the correct printer. If one or the other printer driver is not correct it may send the job to another location OR the application you are using requires the printer to be the default windows printer. If this is the case adjust the Format Driver printer to be the default Windows printer.
When I print from the application, the print job goes to the printer, but the Format Driver program never starts. What is incorrect?
Make sure that the printer selected to use from the application is the Format Driver. If not, please make the change. The Format Driver must be selected to print for the program to work.
NOTE: Some applications use the default driver in windows. If this is the case than make the Format Driver the Default printer driver while printing from this application.
What if I group the data, but not all of the data was grouped?
When dragging the red box around data to group, the data will turn red as it is included in the group. If the data did not turn red then it will not be included in the group. To start over, clear the existing field and re-draw the red box around the data, making certain all the data is included in the group.
The data in some of the fields is truncating. How do I fix this?
When initially formatting the fields, it is important that the field size is adequate to fit the largest amount of data possible. If your data is appearing as truncated, you will need to adjust the size of the field to accommodate more data.
I want to copy data to the bottom, but I can’t see the bottom portion of the screen. What do I do?
If you drag the copied data down the screen, it should auto scroll until it is visible and you can then place your data. If it does not auto scroll, then move the selected data down to the furthest point and manually scroll down then move the copied data again.
Why does some of the data not turn red when I am selecting it for a group or move?
When selecting a group of data and some of the data does not turn red it is because that data is not fully enclosed in the grouping box. Try extending the box out further until the data turns red.
I have edited the template and now the data prints or causes my program to crash. What happened?
The template is probably corrupt. This is rare, but may happen from time-to-time. If you think the template is corrupt, start the process over and create a new template.
I made a group then tried to copy something and it would not copy. Why?
You need to copy your data first. Then, create the group to move, or change what you need to change. Copy Data will only work prior to anything else being done to the data.
After I changed the font and pitch of some data it overlaps after printing it. How come?
This means you have probably made the pitch too big. Change the pitch to a smaller size and try again. It could also mean that when you moved it you might have overlapped the data.
